How Black Beauty Changed Horse Welfare and Redefined the Animal Story
Black Beauty by Anna Sewell is often considered a children's classic, but it had a greater purpose. Widely credited with encouraging better treatment of horses and addressing animal cruelty, the novel revolutionized the use of storytelling in animal rights. After Black Beauty was published in 1877, it saw the rise of what's considered the realistic animal story and paved the way for more stories that featured horses.

I have seen most of the adaptations including a one hour tv show with a very young Charlton Heston. Each does some aspect of the novel well but they all make inexplicable changes. Overall the BBC miniseries with Timothy Dalton gets the most right and does the least harm to the original story by Bronte.

God, the 1993 version sucked balls. Stayed away from the 2011 version for obvious reasons. Gene Kelly is always worthwhile but his version is only fair in justice to the book(s). The 1973-74 Richard Lester version is/are the greatest of all with only one failing - the principles are distinctly older than the literary characters - a minor point with how truly excellent the cast is overall - themselves a who's who of remarkable actors at the top of their game. Simply the best.

My favourite part of the 2004 movie is the caption showing the main part of the story happens in 1870 - a year when Paris was under a crippling artillery siege by the Prussian army and the citizens were starving, and five years before the opera house even opened.

This voice sounds AI generated although i fear it is not. Unfortunately your comments and descriptions are spoken as if reading out loud a thesis paper on how to describe these movies without emotion. The Claude Rains 1943 version is a beautifully filmed and crafted piece of that period. The best Phantom performance is that of maximilian schell in the 1983 Production with Jane Seymour. The book is a dramatic thriller. Not a song and dance routine.

Gosh, the Phantom has suffered nearly as badly as Dracula, with many films being made that wildly deviate from the literary source material. In both cases we are still waiting for a truly faithful adaptation to bring the book to life.

I love watching the different versions and comparing them. I love the 2006 version for it's warmth!🔥 In the first fire when Jane says, "I am cold, Sir." And wraping his cloak around her, Mr. Rochester says, "Are we agreed you will never be cold again?". It's the magic moment when she realizes that she loves him. In contrast to St. John when she confronts him about his love for Rosamond, he says of himself, "...in my heart, I am a cold man". And when Jane says, "What's the use of 5000 pounds a year, if you can't lite a few fires at christmas?" I also like Bertha best in the 2006 version that she is still beautiful and treated with tenderness and has beautiful things in her chamber. She appears to be well cared for, she has bathed and her hair is curled. And the freedom she chooses when she jumps in the 2nd fire is almost an act of love, to free both herself and him from circumstances not of their choosing. Both Jane and Edward have felt the cold and choose to overcome and to be people who give warmth to others and not to deny warmth even to those who may not appreciate it. They are a true hero and heroin not victims of circumstance.

Rudyard Kipling actually wrote more than four Mowgli stories. There were eight total, but only three of them made it into The Jungle Book. But Kipling later published The Second Jungle Book, which included the other five Mowgli stories as well as additional non-Mowgli stories. The treasure chamber storyline is from the Mowgli story titled "The King's Ankus." Incidentally, two years after publication, Kipling decided he didn't like the way the stories were arranged, so he changed the books so that all the Mowgli stories were in the first volume, while all of the non-Mowgli stories were in the second volume. Unfortunately, most publishers today are either unaware of this or just don't care, because they go with the arrangement from the original publication. It's quite sad really.

Yes, the version of 2002 had been directed by SIMON WELLS ! a Great - Grandson of H.G. Wells. Fun Fact: As his famous Great - Grandfather he does not believe in " THE NATURAL SUPERIORITY OF THE CAUCASIAN RACE " as it had been common in his time, hence he used many Asian and African based people for acting in the movie. Just mentioning it because I heard often people complain about this talking about the 2002 version

EXCELLENT !! But there is a small contradiction. IF the Emperor asks the Veterans AFTER TEN YEARS for their wishes for their dutyfull service how comes her comrads in arms had served with her for TWELVE YEARS. as stated at the end. I guess the poem had survived the cultural cleansing in China when the DAO of Konfuzius became the State´s Philosophy because it helped to justify the costs for maintaining the GREAT WALL.

The 1960s version is closer to the book, but some elements are absent from it. For example, in the book, Weena perished in the forest fire. The 2002 version was irrelevant and lacked any connection to the book. In today's society, leftist Hollywood media employs multicultural actors and actresses as political instruments to propagate ideologies such as feminism and racial domination.
